Dr. Mohammed bin Fayel Al-Araimi is a leading expert in innovation and institutional transformation, and a specialist speaker in developing higher-order thinking skills for leaders and building innovative competencies. He brings together academic depth and hands-on practice across strategic consulting, institutional and individual capacity building, and applied research.
Areas of focus
His work centres on developing individual creative capacity and institutional innovation, strategic leadership and foresight, strategic planning and analysis, critical analytical thinking, and innovative decision-making — alongside building human capital and design-thinking-led innovation. He also advises on entrepreneurship, from innovative marketing strategy to product design and pricing.
Experience
Dr. Mohammed currently works as an independent expert in innovation and institutional transformation. Previously he served as Assistant Professor at Sur University College, Director of the Survey and Decision Support Center, and Head of the International Cooperation Department at Oman's Institute of Public Administration — where he also coordinated GCC cooperation affairs. He chairs the Education and Innovation Committee at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (South Sharqiyah branch).
National strategy work
He has contributed to a number of national strategies and initiatives, including the National Innovation Strategy, the strategy of the Institute of Public Administration, the Administrative Court strategy, the Governance and Institutional Performance pillar of Oman Vision 2040, and the health-innovation support plan for South Sharqiyah Governorate.
Education & publications
He holds a PhD in Management and Development Policy from the University of Manchester (UK), an MBA from the University of Queensland (Australia), and a Bachelor's in Business/Public Administration from Sultan Qaboos University — along with professional certifications in NLP, leadership coaching, and the CoRT thinking programme. He is the author of Towards Investing in Human Capital (2018) and Innovation: A Sustainable Competitive Advantage (2021), with a forthcoming book, Soft Power: The Art of Silent Dominance.
