Dr. Mohammed Babiker Mohammed Ahmed is an accounting and finance specialist who combines hands-on industry experience with more than a decade of academic teaching and research. He has worked as an accountant and accounts manager and teaches accounting and finance, alongside active research in financial reporting and SME finance.
Experience
He is a Lecturer at Oman College of Management and Technology (since 2013), where he has also supervised the Community Service Unit, served on the College Council, acted as academic supervisor for the evening programme, and contributed to academic accreditation. He teaches accounting and finance and trains students on the Tally Prime and ONYX ERP systems. Earlier, he was Accounts Manager at West Gulf Group in Qatar (2012–2013), a Lecturer at Ahfad University for Women in Sudan (2010–2012), and an accountant with the Mamoun Al-Berair Group in Sudan.
Areas of focus
His expertise covers financial accounting and reporting, IFRS adoption, cloud and ERP-based accounting, financial analysis and control, and the financing of small and medium enterprises — with a growing research interest in blockchain-enabled accounting and financial transparency.
Research & publications
His research includes Blockchain-Enabled Smart Contracts for Secure SME Accounting and Financial Transparency in Oman; Challenges in Financing Small and Medium Enterprises: A Case Study of Oman ORIX and Bank Muscat (OCMT'2025, Scopus); Developing a Mechanism of the Financial System for Islamic Banks in the Sultanate of Oman; and Performance Evaluation of Oil and Gas Companies in the Sultanate of Oman; and Cloud Accounting and its Adoption in the Sultanate of Oman (IJRISS, 2024), among others. He also supervises student graduation projects on IFRS adoption and cloud accounting in Oman.
Education
He holds a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Khartoum and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from Omdurman Islamic University, and is engaged in doctoral research in accounting (since 2019). He is proficient in accounting applications, SPSS/PSPP, and Microsoft and Google productivity tools.
